Back to Hampton to Kempton Water Works Railway

Early steam locomotive

Unknown Site

This would have been Kerr Stuart's factory photo to the client, The Metropolitan Water Board; the colour would have been a grey primer paint before the final paint job to show the final finished engine-in case the engine required modifications, to save on re-painting the finished look.

The buffer beam at the front and back of the engine were low set to track-this allowed the engine to be put back on the track if it derailed by using big steel lever bars and a lot of human brute force to lever the wheel and nudge it back on the track.
